What is “Inspire by FVMA”

“Inspire by FVMA” is a comprehensive wellbeing program designed for all Florida veterinarians, veterinary professionals, and team members, regardless of membership status with the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA).

Our mission? To improve the wellbeing of the veterinary community through accessible mental health care and workplace wellness resources such as:

  • Providing tangible support spanning all three levels of the veterinary institution: individual, team, and organization. Our services address well-being holistically, whereas other programs may focus solely on individual needs. “Inspire by FVMA” services every veterinary professional in the state, from those seeking more joy and fulfillment in their work to the nearly 10 percent of veterinarians and up to 20 percent of veterinary staff experiencing serious psychological distress.
  • Overcoming barriers to care, such as stigma, cost, and the disconnect that can occur with mental health professionals who lack firsthand veterinary experience. Our programs are developed by veterinary professionals who are specifically trained and certified, ensuring practical and relatable support.
  • Addressing the cost of care by providing up to three free individual sessions with veterinary-informed and affiliated mental health professionals through 2025. This free service applies to all of Florida’s veterinary professionals, from veterinarians to staff members.
  • Developing real-world tools to create more positive work environments, empowering veterinary teams and organizations. Our well-being initiatives are field-tested and designed to help veterinary professionals find more joy and greater opportunities to thrive in their careers.

With a network of trained veterinary professionals serving as “Wellbeing Champions,” our program will launch real-world projects focused on personal growth, inspiring change, and promoting workplace well-being. These champions will also guide hospitals statewide in replicating these projects.
